Visiting a clinic can be stressful so chatting to an informative and friendly volunteer can often help to inform and reassure.
GCAB volunteers are present in some eye department outpatient clinics in Gloucester and Cheltenham. They are there to listen to patient concerns and discuss possible sources of support and help.
Only the clinical staff can discuss and give patients medical information about their eye conditions. However, our volunteers are on hand with booklets on common eye conditions, information about aids and equipment and can, with permission, refer people to other agencies, organisations, or groups for further support.
