Fundraising

GCAB needs £150,000 a year to carry on providing the help and support for blind and partially sighted people in Gloucestershire. We receive no Government funding so rely entirely on donations. We guarantee your money will stay in Gloucestershire helping those people.

Leaving a gift in your will

By leaving a legacy to Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind, you will help ensure our valuable work continues for many more years to come. Making a will is far less complicated and expensive than you might think, and it is perhaps one of the more important things you'll ever do. It is the only way to be sure your family, friends and favourite charities and others are provided for as you wish after your death.

Where do I start?

It is always best to use the services of a solicitor when making a will. A solicitor will be able to advise you on legal aspects, the different ways in which you can make sure all your beneficiaries are provided for - including leaving a donation to a charity - as well as ensuring that the will is correctly drawn up in law and provide you with relevant inheritance tax advice.

I've already got a Will

There may be changes in circumstances as well as change of heart that can affect your will. The majority of minor changes can be covered by adding a codicil (an addition or alteration to a will) A legacy gift to a charity can be added to an existing will by codicil. The codicil must be signed and witnessed and should be kept with the will.

About your Will

There are several different ways to include a donation to Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind.

  • Residual donation - Leaving a percentage of the residue of your estate after all dependants have been provided for.
  • Pecuniary donation - by leaving a specific sum of money, which can be index linked to preserve its value.
  • Specific donation - by deciding to leaf part or all of your estate to Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind.
Your solicitor will need to know the following details:
  • Charity name - Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind.
  • Address - 81 Albion Street, Cheltenham GL52 2RZ
  • Registered charity number - 204279
Your gift will help support essentioal future developments at our Resource Centre and Insight Information Offices all around the county. With your help we can improve the many other vitally important aspects of our work, enabling us to offer more and change the lives of many visually impaired people.

Where does you donation go?

A standing order of just £2 per month will help us run our social clubs throughout the County for blind and partially sighted people.

This would pay for a visually impaired person to have a specialist computer lesson

This contributes towards the costs of one of our visiting advisors to attend a home visit and carry out an initial assessment, helping with a benefit application if required.

this would cover the expenses paid to a volunteer for visiting a visually impaired person in their own home

This will enable us to supply a second hand CCTV, allowing a visually impaired person the independence to read their own post.

By donating just £2 a month you can help people live a more independent life.
