Counselling: Can it help you?

Many of us undergo periods of change in our lives that we do not always want or welcome. I can help you manage these adjustments no matter how difficult and distressing.

My name is Jan Slater and I work primarily from my private practice in the village of Woodmancote close to Cheltenham.

I am an experienced Psycho-therapeutic Counsellor and Personal Development Coach and practice in Gloucestershire and worldwide. When you enter in to counselling with me, I offer a very safe, non judgemental and confidential therapeutic relationship in which you can explore personal or difficult issues that may be causing you frustration or distress associated with your current visual impairment, and issues that have arisen due to sight impairment... both emotional and practical.

I completed my professional training fourteen years ago gaining a Diploma in Counselling after three years of study and one year of supervised practice. I continued to go on to further study for two years and qualify as a counsellor with Relate the renowned counselling organisation for couples.

My reputation is based on my attention to clinical and academic excellence and I am accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). These professional bodies have codes of ethics to which I adhere, and complaints procedures which ensure the highest standards of confidentiality and professional practice. When considering counselling it is important that you choose a professional that has completed a rigorous and thorough training. These organisations are the largest professional bodies for counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK and ensure the highest professional standards.

Post qualifying and after many years working with clients I trained to be a supervisor of other therapist and professional in the counselling or health profession with the Centre for Supervision and team Development and went on to supervise for Cruse and independent psychotherapists working in private practice and other practitioners that work within organisations.

I continue to be committed to a regular programme of continued professional development.

I currently work with: M.O.D, Triage Healthcare, Work Stress Management, Care First, Cigna, G.P referrals and other.
